A Manhattan doctor working at Mount Sinai Hospital is facing accusations that he drugged and sexually assaulted an emergency room patient after he gave her propofol, the same sedative that killed Michael Jackson.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Dr. David Newman, initially told law enforcement officials that he gave the woman morphine for shoulder pain.

However, according to prosecutors, a urine test indicated that the 22-year-old woman had propofol in her system, a drug that is utilized to relax a patient prior to and during general anesthesia.

During a hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court, prosecutor Eun-Ha Kin said, “It was this drug, propofol, that the defendant administered to the complainant.”

“This drug is not a controlled substance and because of that, defendant had greater access to it in the ER,” said Kim.

Dr. Newman allegedly administered propofol to the woman, then proceeded to masturbate and ejaculate on her face, the New York Post reported.

Newman’s lawyers did not respond to requests for comment as they left the court.

On January 12th, Newman was questioned by investigators at his New Jersey home and provided detectives with a strange explanation of the repugnant incident.

“I am embarrassed because I whacked off in the lounge, and it was possible that the ejaculate may have gone from my hands to the woman’s blanket,” Newman said. “Semen may have also transferred from my hand to her face during the time I treated her.”

According to the New York Post, sources confirmed that the woman regained consciousness, though due to the heavy sedative the doctor gave her, she remained helpless during the assault. However, the woman did manage to save a sample of his DNA and informed the other doctors before she left the hospital.

Sperm was reportedly found on the victim’s eyelid, and the doctor’s DNA was also recovered from her face. She filed a lawsuit against both him and the hospital, which suspended him from his position soon after.

Since Newman’s arrest back in January, an additional three women, ranging in ages from 18-21 have also accused Newman of groping their breasts during their emergency room visits.

Newman surrendered to police on January 19 and has been charged with five counts of sexual abuse. He was previously offered four years in prison by prosecutors but declined the deal.
