A Florida woman beat a man during an attempted burglary with his own weapon during a break-in.

On Thursday, 33-year-old Noah Dassat knocked down the door of a North Port home.

The man allegedly tried to attack the family of five, which included three kids, ages 2-, 9- and 10-years old, with a wooden baseball bat, the New York Daily News reported.

After a short struggle, the kid’s father, Jason Petty, caught the criminal in a bear hug, while his wife, Allison Young, proceeded to take the bat and beat him with it.

Dassat fled the scene heavily bleeding and suffering from significant head injuries. According to a police report, he left behind a hat and the bat he used as a weapon.

The suspect was later arrested after providing a fake name to a hospital in Port Charlotte.

The night before the attempted burglary, Dassat checked out the house and knocked on the door. When someone answered, he reportedly asked for a man named “Josh.”

After the poorly carried out burglary, officers discovered a blood-splattered car with Texas plates, which was later classified as the vehicle that Dassat was driving.

Dassat is now facing charges including battery, armed burglary, and criminal mischief, which total up to four felonies and one misdemeanor.

According to sheriff’s records, Dassat, who is a carpenter from Santa Cruz, is being held without bail in Charlotte County Jail.

Joshua Taylor, North Port police spokesman, said in a statement: “We would never recommend violence, but you certainly have the right to protect yourself, so do what you have to do, I guess.”

The family’s neighbors were proud that the family was able to retrieve the weapon from the criminal. Neighbor, Sherri Mitchell said, “Kudos to them!”

Another neighbor, Jim Joyce, said: “That’s how we roll around here.”
