A high school teacher in Iowa has been arrested by authorities after he allegedly had sexual relations with a recently graduated student.

Police officers spotted Amanda Caye Dreier, 27, and the 18-year-old student in a car together last month, according to the Daily Mail.

Cops discovered Dreier and the former student in the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex’s parking lot. Although police reported that they did not catch the two engaging in any type of sexual activity, they did say that something “didn’t sit right with them.”

An investigation was initiated and discovered that Dreier and the student had been engaged in an ongoing sexual relationship. The married English teacher has been charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee.

Iowa state laws prohibit student-teacher relationships 30-days after graduation.

Dreier stepped down from her post with the school on June 12th and turned herself into authorities on Friday. She is currently in Polk County Jail held on $5,000 bail.

Dreier’s charges of sexual exploitation could see her five years in prison and faces up to a $7,500 fine.
