A 17-year-old high school baseball star from Texas has been taken into custody and has been charged with aggravated sexual assault for reportedly molesting two young children at his mother’s daycare center.

According to the Daily Mail, Zachary Alan Holifield was set to play on a baseball scholarship at Oklahoma State next year. However, he has remained in the Collin County Jail since his arrest on June 20th.

Jail records indicate that Holifield has been charged with one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact and two counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Authorities announced that the teenager lives in the house where his mother operates her own daycare, which is where the abuse allegedly occurred.

One of the victims was only 5-years-old, NBC DFW reported.

The star pitcher is currently being held on $600,000 bail.

Before news of the abuse got out, Holifield was featured as a top pitcher for his team in the Plano Star Courier last month. His head coach, Rick Robertson, said at the time: “Zach came a long way from last year. No doubt, he was the anchor of our pitching staff and gave us a chance to win every time he pitched.”

The scouting website ‘MaxPreps’ shows Holifield as the 45th top high school prospect in Texas.
