Pennsylvania authorities have charged a man for smoking marijuana sprayed with the embalming fluid, used to preserve a human brain.

State police arrested Joshua Lee Long, a 26-year-old Carlisle resident on charges of conspiracy and abuse of a corpse, officials announced on Thursday.

Police detectives responded to a call by Long’s aunt on June 21 after the woman discovered a department store bag containing a human brain beneath a porch, according to court documents.

Long allegedly told his aunt in a phone conversation from the Cumberland County jail that he smoked the formaldehyde-soaked pot to get high.

“The defendant said he knew it was illegal to have the brain in his possession and that he and (another man) would spray the embalming fluid on ‘weed’ to get high,” lead investigator John Boardman, wrote in the arrest report.

Boardman said the county coroner confirmed the brain was real, which Long supposedly named i’Freddy,’ the Associated Press reported.

Investigators said the brain was likely a stolen teaching specimen, according to the arrest affidavit.

Long remained in custody, and it is unclear whether he has an attorney.
