A woman who just shelled out $430 thousand on a California home last month was shocked to discover the body of the previous owner upon moving in, Police said.

The new unidentified homeowner discovered the body of 84-year-old Salvatore Orefice on a bed in the bedroom of the Simi Valley house, the L.A. Times reported.

Police arrested a 75-year-old woman in connection with the man’s death.

According to Simi Valley police Cmdr. Roy Jones, Police arrested the man’s girlfriend, identified as 75-year-old Mary Karacas on suspicion of murder.

Jones said the new homeowner contacted authorities upon discovering the body. Police then arranged a meeting with Karacas at the house.

The woman told investigators that she had got into a heated altercation with Orefice and confessed to fatally shooting the man.

Police haven’t indicated how long the body was in the home. The Times reported that Karacas and Orefice, who were in a relationship had 30 days to vacate the premises after the sale of the house.

A Records search indicated the couple purchased the single family, 3-bedroom house back in June 2007 for $520,000.
