Authorities in California say NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman is a person of interest in an hit-and-run incident that occurred last week.

The driver of a black BMW, who was also involved in the crash, told California Highway Patrol that the other driver fled the scene after the accident and that he recognized him as the longtime NBA player.

The driver of the BMW was not severely wounded but did report that he was in some pain following the crash, TMZ reported.

Florentino Olivera, CHP Officer, told NBC Los Angeles, “Based on the driver’s statement, we have to investigate.”

Rodman had a short run with the Lakers back in 1999, playing in 23 games, and reportedly lives in Newport Beach, about an hour from the scene of the crash.

He obtained back-to-back championships with the Pistons and won three rings with the Chicago Bulls during Michael Jordan’s second stint with Chicago.

Rodman, who is known for a wild demeanor and bizarre behavior on and off the court, has raised eyebrows during his retirement by befriending North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
