At least two people have been killed and another 17 wounded, the youngest being 12-years-old after a gunman opened fire at a nightclub in Fort Myers, Florida early Monday morning.

The shooting began around 12:30 a.m. Monday in the strip mall parking lot outside Club Blu. Witnesses said they heard at least 30 rounds fired during the incident.

Responding police officers discovered several gunshot victims sprawled out in the parking lot of the venue.

According to WINK-TV, the victims are between the ages of 12 to 27.  Police received additional reports of gunfire at a home around one mile away from the scene of the attack.

Law enforcement officials said cops arrested three men suspected of taking part in the attack six miles away from Club Blu.

The bar was hosting a teen night when the shooting occurred.

Police investigators earmarked around two dozen bullet casings that littered the parking lot of a strip mall parking lot.

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the suspected shooter immediately fled the scene after the shooting but haven’t immediately released a description of the assailant.

In a Facebook Live video, one eyewitness said once the gunfire rang out, she sought safety along with her sister under her vehicle.

“I couldn’t believe we were in a live shooting,” Juss Olivia said in the video.

She also stated she had witnessed at least one young shooting victim lying on the ground at the venue.

“The little boy was just laying on the floor; he was just trying to fight for his life. The little boy was out,” Olivia said.

Another apparent gunshot victim was identified on Facebook as Timothy Settles, who posted a four-second clip of himself lying down, in a hospital bed with blood on his face and wrote: “I don’t wanna (sic) die.”

According to local reports, at least one of the fatally wounded was among 16 victims taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, while another victim was taken a hospital in Cape Coral.

Officials said two of the victims remain in critical condition.

The club released a statement, which read: “We are deeply sorry for all involved. We tried to give the teens ages 12-17, WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A SAFE PLACE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME.

“There was armed security as well as full security inside and out. As the club was closing and parents were picking their children up…..that’s when all this took place. There was nothing more we could of done as you see it was not kids at the party that did this despicable act.”
Fort Myers police declined further comment. This story is still developing and will be updated.
