A Texas computer science teacher was caught having an inappropriate relationship with one of his students after leaving a digital footprint of evidence.

An investigation was launched in June when former Vista Ridge High School Teacher, Ian Edgeley, told his wife that he was cheating on her.

After his wife had discovered his Twitter account, she realized her husband was engaged in an affair with a student at the high school he worked at, and she then proceeded to contact Cedar Park police.

Police seized the 31-year-old’s computer and searched his Twitter account, where they found naked pictures of the teen victim, along with sexually explicit exchanges between the duo.

According to authorities, the relationship began back in April when the student turned 18. The victim stated that she started having a sexual relationship with the man after her graduation on June 4th.

On June 13th, his wife also contacted the high school and warned school personnel.

State Representative Tony Dale, whose daughter is a student at Vista Ridge, said in an interview with Fox7 Austin: “Just like any other parent, you’re concerned. You expect when your kids go to school that not only are they going to get a quality education, but they’re going to be safe as well.”

Police currently allege the 18-year-old isn’t the man’s only victim, as he has worked in other schools within the district since 2013

Sgt. Christopher Dailey told reporters: “We do have evidence where we believe there might be other victims who were students of Mr. Edgeley’s in either RRISD or Leander ISD.”

The teacher resigned from his teaching job back in June, right before he left for his residence in the United Kingdom.

Police arrested Edgeley at the Houston airport after returning from his trip to the U.K. on July 21st.

Prosecutors charged Edgeley with having an improper relationship with a student, a felony that could land him 20 years behind bars. He is currently held on $35,000 bail.

Edgeley is a UK citizen and was in the United States on a work visa.
