Authorities nabbed a New York City man who taunted prosecutors with a series of Instagram posts of himself soaking up rays on a Mexican beachside resort while on the lam for seven months.

U.S. Marshals met 25-year-old Bronx resident Ronald DeJesus Plaza last month as he exited a flight at Los Angeles’ airport.

Plaza is accused of a violent assault on Angel Segura, of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. in June 2014 at the El Aguila nightclub in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx.

Plaza and another still at-large suspect allegedly slashed Segura several times, broke his nose, and stabbed the victim in the back in the attack.

Segura’s injuries required 24 stitches along with staples to his head and face.

Plaza had remained free on a $5,000 bond during his two-week trial. However, he jumped bail on Dec. 4, 2015, the day a jury began deliberations.

The weekend after failing to show up for his court date, Plaza posted a photo showing a bottle of Diplomatic Reserva rum with a message to Karl Miller, the Assistant District Attorney, who prosecuted the case, which read: “Salute Mr. Miller, this is a good rum.”

According to Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, Plaza, who began serving a ten-year prison sentence on Monday, taunted prosecutors with a series of Instagram posts of himself with his face blurred, sipping champagne in a bathtub, posing with a Glock, and even posing behind the wheel of a Lamborghini.

“(Plaza) even taunted the prosecutor. But he could not escape justice and now he will serve his sentence,” Clark said.

The court subsequently handed Plaza a 10-year prison term in absentia during his time on the lam.

Plaza appeared in Bronx Supreme Court on Monday before beginning his sentence, where he faced an additional charge of bail jumping, the New York Daily News reported.

Segura claimed that Plaza’s family in the Dominican Republic issued a series of threats against his family in an attempt to recant his testimony.

“I’m concerned mostly about my family, because in my country, we have no justice. You buy people off,” Segura said.

“I just want to get over this nightmare,” Segura said in court last year.
