A French woman, whose identity has not been made public, faces up to six months behind bars for phoning in a bogus airport bomb threat to keep her husband from flying to visit his mistress.

French and Swiss police initiated a major security increase at Geneva’s Cointrin Airport on Tuesday, which included additional security checkpoints, identification checks, and the closing off of several entrance points after receiving an unknown bomb threat.

By Tuesday night, law enforcement officials traced the number that called in the bomb threat to Annecy, France, a town about 28 miles outside of Geneva.

Authorities raided the residence and discovered a woman at the home, police soon determined that the bomb threat was fake, the Daily Mail reported.

On Thursday, the suspect, who has been married to her husband for 22 years, confessed to a French court that she called in the bomb threat to stop her husband from flying to visit his mistress. She reportedly stated that she “did not think about the consequences when she phoned in a false bomb threat.”

Her husband came to the trial with their two children and denied ever engaging in an affair.

Prosecutor Eric Maillaud proposed a six-month prison sentence, citing that the woman’s fabricated bomb threat had cost the airport and authorities hundreds of thousands of euros, as well as inconvenienced approximately 13,000 travelers that day. The court officially decided that the woman must serve at least three months in prison for the incident.
