Authorities in Texas have reported at least one fatality among several gunshot victims following an active shooting incident in the downtown area Austin, KXAN reported.

Police said the shooting, which happened around 2 a.m., had occurred in multiple locations near the intersection of San Jacinto and 6th Street and had asked residents to avoid the downtown.

Officials said paramedics pronounced the victim, identified as a woman in her 30s, dead at the scene, and rushed two female victims and a man to University Medical Center Brackenridge with gunshot wounds but released no immediate word on their condition. A fifth person refused treatment at the scene.

Emergency responders were still trying to locate additional victims.

A Twitter user posted a 44-second video of the incident, which showed a crowd of people walking in the streets when at least four shots rang out. The crowd then frantically scattered in every direction.

Dorian Santiago, who witnessed the shooting told a local media outlet: “We heard five shots, and then people started running crazy, the cops were running behind someone.”

“An injured girl was freaking out, the other one was already on the floor – they were doing CPR to help her, but it looked like she was already dead,” another eyewitness told Sky News.

Austin Police reported both scenes secure. The story is developing.
