The nephew accused of the 2014 shooting hip-hop and reality TV star Raymond ‘Benzino’ Scott during a funeral procession in 2014 was found guilty on Thursday.

Gai Scott was convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon but managed to beat an assault with intent to murder charge in connection with the March 2014 shooting in Massachusetts, the Boston Globe reported

Benzino, who co-founded Source Magazine, sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his back and shoulder as a result of the shooting.

Authorities said Scott travelled in a vehicle on his way to a Plymouth church for the funeral of his mother when his nephew opened fire from a separate car.

Prosecutors said the shooting was the result of a family dispute.

At the time of the shooting incident, Benzino appeared on VH1’s reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” and also was the CEO of Hip Hop Weekly. The judge set Scott’s sentencing date for August 26th.
