Rapper Kodak Black accused of sexual battery

Rapper Kodak Black, who is currently remains incarcerated, has been charged with sexual battery arising from an alleged incident at a hotel in South Carolina earlier this year, according to the authorities.

After three months, the 19-year-old up and coming rapper had been scheduled to be released from prison last week after he was taken into custody back in April for a myriad of other charges. However, authorities discovered a pair of outstanding arrest warrants just before his release.

Among the outstanding warrants, the rapper had out for his detention included on for a felony charge of criminal sexual conduct stemming from an alleged incident that had occurred back in February involving Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave.

Major Michael M. Nunn of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office told The New York Daily News in an interview: “According to investigators, on or about February 7, 2016, Octave is alleged to have engaged in the sexual battery of the victim at a hotel located at 2120 West Lucas Street.”

Kodak Black was initially behind bars on charges including false imprisonment, robbery, along with drug and firearm possession, the New York Daily News reported.

The rapper was facing up to 55 years in prison, but a judge accepted a plea deal on August 16th that would have permitted him to be released from jail and serve a year of house arrest followed by a five year’ probationary period.

However, just one day later, law enforcement officials discovered the outstanding warrants for his arrest.

A rep for the Broward Sheriff’s Office told Billboard Magazine: “During the release process, we found two active warrants for Mr. Octave. He is currently still in the custody of the Broward Sheriff’s Office.”

Kodak Black, who is signed by Atlantic Records, is widely recognized a rising star in the hip-hop music industry.
