A third criminal has pleaded guilty to her role in a scheme involving the abduction and torture two college students in New York.

Samantha Hughes, 20, is one of nine people who have been charged with the kidnapping and torture of two University of Rochester seniors back in December.

The victims, who are both from the Chicago area, were reported missing on December 5th, just hours after they were last seen beside their college campus. The event ended on December 6th when authorities discovered the students were being held captive in a house four miles away.

A SWAT team unit raided the residence rescuing both victims the following day on December 6th.

On Wednesday, Hughes pleaded guilty in the case to kidnapping.

During a Supreme Court hearing, Monroe County prosecutors explained how Hughes used mobile text messages to lure the male victims with an invitation to attend what they believed was an off-campus party.

According to the Chicago Tribune, The two students were taken against their will battered, sexually assaulted, and held hostage inside a Rochester house for 40 hours. One of the victims even suffered a gunshot wound during the ordeal.

Police also arrested Lydell Strickland, Dennis Perez, Inalia Rolldan, David Alcaraz-Ubiles, and Leah Gigliotti kidnapping of the two college students.

In January a grand jury indictment added additional counts of assault, gang assault, sexual assault and weapons charges against the suspects.

Furthermore, the indictment also accused Dennis Perez and Lydell Strickland, with multiple counts of predatory sexual assault, gang assault, weapons possession, criminal use of a firearm and robbery.

David Alcaraz-Ubiles and Inalia Rolldan face with kidnapping and weapons charges. Prosecutors also charged Alcaraz-Ubiles with assault.

The indictment charged Hughes along with Leah Gigliotti with kidnapping, gang assault, and assault charges,

Following a plea agreement, prosecutors said Hughes faced at least 15 years behind bars. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 23rd.
