A married Alabama teacher has been taken into custody by Police after a sex tape of surfaced of her and a 15-year-old high school student.

According to the Daily Mail, 33-year-old Charlaina Lee Wilson from Knoxville, Alabama, has been charged with sodomy, rape, distributing harmful material to minors, and transmitting obscene material to a child by computer.

Law enforcement officials allege Wilson had sex with the student multiple times at various locations, including on school property, and during field trips. The relationship is believed to have been going on for approximately one year.

The agricultural teacher resigned from her job at Selma High School in Alabama, only eight months after she started, when the offenses came to light, WALB reported.

Investigators announced that the indecent sex tape displayed Wilson performing a solo sexual act, which was then sent to the student that she was involved with.

The video was reportedly posted on social media which soon went viral in the small town as high school students began passing the footage around.

A concerned parent who came across the video contacted the principal, and two students also reached out to school administrators.

The principal of Selma High School called authorities on Thursday who gained access to the sex tape and questioned Wilson and several students.

The former teacher was detained last Friday and is being held on over $1 million bond.

Officials say that the video was recorded a few months ago but had only come to the spotlight in the past few days.

“If it weren’t for this video, it wouldn’t have come to light. I’m told the video has been circulated by among many students over at Selma High School on Facebook and other social media sites,” Police Chief Brock said in an interview with WSFA.

Brock added, “Last I heard, there were over 10,000 hits on one of the sites. She sent it to the student she was involved with. She had a sexual relationship with one student… He’s now 15, but this relationship sounds like it’s been going on since he was 14.”

On Friday, Dr. Angela Mangum, the superintendent of Selma City Schools, issued a statement which said that Wilson’s actions were “not aligned with the values, core beliefs, and mission of our district.”

The statement continued: “Once the incident was reported, swift and immediate action was taken to remove the teacher from the school to ensure the safety of students. As the superintendent, it is my responsibility to protect all students from harm. I will not tolerate any misconduct towards students, and I will promptly act in their defense.”

Michael Jackson, Dallas County District Attorney, verified that Wilson could be facing a lengthy prison sentence if she is found guilty.

Brock described the situation as “disturbing.”

“Every couple of weeks, you see where a teacher is involved with a student somewhere in the state or even across the southeast. It’s getting out of hand in some places,” he said.

Just last week, in Houston, Texas, 30-year-old Drew Dillon Watson was apprehended after he reportedly drove across state borders to engage in sexual relations with a 15-year-old boy that he had been communicating with via text message and video chat.
