Fans of Grupero singer Gerardo Ortiz destroy set after singer fails to appear for performance

Fans of Gerardo Ortiz damage his set in Philly after he fails to appear for scheduled show.

Grupero singer Gerardo Ortiz had some angry fans in Philadelphia take out their frustration by wrecking his set after he failed to show for a scheduled concert appearance.

Angered fans posted videos on social media of people damaging speakers, smashing instruments and throwing projectiles on the set of Explanada De Philadelphia, where Ortiz was scheduled to perform but never showed up.

Philly.com reported that concert organizers had announced Ortiz wouldn’t wouldn’t appear after a few songs into the opening band’s set, sparking outrage in the crowd who paid $50 to see the California-born narcocorrido singer.

Earlier on Saturday, a photo depicting Gerardo Ortiz and some companions toasting some beers was uploaded on his Facebook page.

However, later that evening, Ortiz issued a statement on his same Facebook page, apologizing he couldn’t perform due to health reasons.

According to the Hispanic News Network, Concert organizers Zamora Live, which booked the space for Ortiz’s show, estimated the damage caused by the unruly fans at $30,000.

The promotional company, Shinola Promotions released additional footage of the destruction, which can be seen below.
