Two armed drug cartel members murdered a young woman in cold blood as she walked out of a restaurant in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. The killers changed cars as they fled the scene.

The slaying took place last week when 23-year-old Jessica Silva-Martinez left a restaurant named Mario’s Steak House in Piedras Negras with her boyfriend, identified as Carlos Estrada Rojas, and his sister Juana Estrada Rojas when the men attacked.

According to Vanguardia, two men, who were in a silver Chrysler 300, pulled up to the entrance of the establishment. Once the vehicle stopped in front of the couple, the men drew .40 caliber pistols and opened fire.

The exact number of bullets shot is unclear, but law enforcement officials announced that one of the shots fatally hit the victim in the chest.

The victim’s boyfriend and his sister rushed her to a hospital. However, due to the severity of her wounds, Silva-Martinez died before she could seek medical attention. Forensic information indicated that one of the bullets penetrated a vital artery next to her heart.

Coahuila State Police investigators  said the two suspects are allegedly between the ages of 35- and 40-years-old and were last seen driving a small Chrysler sedan.

Only four blocks from the crime scene, police officers discovered the automobile used by the murderers, suggesting that they switched cars.

The sedan didn’t have any license plates or other identifying labels, which most likely indicates that the car was stolen, according to Breitbart Texas.

Authorities believe the gunmen targeted the victim after evidence gathered in the investigation suggested the victim was receiving threats before her death.
