A judge has sentenced Leiha Artman, the 25-year-old Michigan mother who made up an elaborate kidnapping tale alleging that she was abducted and sexually assaulted by four black men, to 12 months in prison.

The woman told police officers that she was kidnapped when a group of men stopped to ask her for directions as she stood in her driveway back in March.

Police investigators said Leiha Artman claimed the supposed assailants stuffed her in the trunk of their car, beat, and raped her.

During the two days she went missing, her boyfriend received pictures of the woman gagged, bound, and bleeding from her head.

On Wednesday, she was sentenced to one year in prison after confessing that she made up the entire story.

According to MLive, the woman was informed that she wouldn’t receive jail time in exchange for the plea deal which, given her previous criminal history, carried a maximum penalty of six years behind bars.

Her partner, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the Daily Mail that she had been pressured into making the plea and into confessing that she manufactured the account.

The boyfriend of Leiha Artman asserted she was raped and beaten but not by the individuals she had initially blamed.

She falsified the story out of fear that her real attacker would punish her for accusing him, he stated.

“All I know is that I woke up to some very, very brutal pictures. She did make up a story saying it was four black men but, at the end of the day, she did get really, really hurt by someone,” the man told the Daily Mail.

He added: “She is a good woman and a good mother. She was a heroin addict that needed help and rehab.”

Artman was picked up by her boyfriend on March 29th, two days after she said she was abducted, near her mother’s residence.

She called him after her captor dropped her off.

Her boyfriend said she was “really hurt” and “bleeding.” The couple went to the hospital, where she reportedly requested emergency contraception.

Investigators interviewed her while she received medical assistance there. It is unclear if police believe that she was attacked at all.

In the photo messaged to her boyfriend, Artman is seen gagged and with what appears to be blood streaming from her head.

Texts that accompanied the picture asked for money in exchange for her release. He said no money was provided to her kidnapper.
