A team of armed men allegedly tied to the Los Zetas faction, Cartel Del Noreste carried out a raid on a hospital to take one of their associates who was allegedly raped by members of a rival group in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.

During the ambush, one of the officers in charge of securing the inmate was killed, yet the exfiltrated Zeta ended up back in police custody the next day.

The rescue effort was launched at the Civil Hospital on Friday just after 2 a.m., when a team of gunmen with the Cartel Del Noreste (CDN) sector of the Los Zetas stormed the establishment.

The men started to search for the room where the jailed Zeta, Juan Francisco Cruz, was being treated. Cruz was apprehended earlier for disturbing the peace.

He was arrested with other Los Zetas members, for postings banners, which openly threatened a rival faction.

As JammedUp News has previously reported, the two rival groups of the Los Zetas cartel, which include the CDN and the Old School Zetas, have been engulfed in a brutal and violent turf over the control of lucrative drug distribution territories and trafficking routes.

Breitbart Texas reported, that the prisoner was rushed to the hospital on October 8th after he started bleeding in his lower intestinal tract.

During the attack, gunmen shot correctional officer Carlos Javier Camero Alcocer who, along with another prison official, both were guarding Cruz while he was at the hospital.

According to local reports, Camero Alcocer was killed by the gunfire, while his partner was able to run for cover and managed to survive.

Just after the raid, CDN members began to distribute a message on social media taking responsibility for the operation.

A cartel member, identified as Comandante GAFE, stated in the note that he never leaves his people behind and that the guards needed to fall in line, or else. GAFE also declared a threat against the prison director for allowing his associate to be raped by a rival cartel member.

However, just one day after the cartel successfully rescued Cruz from custody, authorities in Tamaulipas managed to track him down and apprehend him.

Law enforcement officials also seized a stockpile of weapons reportedly belonging to the CDN.
