Mary Beth Haglin, the substitute teacher from Iowa, who is facing charges of sexual abuse after engaging in a sexual relationship with a student, insists that she was the actual victim and blamed her teenage lover for destroying both her life and career.

The former teacher who appeared on the Dr. Phil show on Monday sporting a sexy red mini-dress and matching lipstick indicated that since her apprehension back in July, she has been forced to become a stripper to pay her bills. The woman is reportedly performing under the stage name “Bambi.”

Last month, Mary Beth Haglin pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor sexual exploitation by a school employee after her illicit relationship with a student. Her trial date has been scheduled for November 14th.

The sultry 24-year-old told Dr. Phil that the student lured her in with flattering love letters written on Post-Its and tricked her brain into engaging in their inappropriate affair, according to The Daily Mail.

She ultimately grew convinced that the two were in a real relationship, which she was willing to keep secret.

Haglin told Dr. Phil McGraw that after she was fired, she became a stripper

“He did so with such intelligence and such an elevated vocabulary that I was completely duped by the whole facade,” she told Dr. Phil.

Haglin confessed to having sex with the 17-year-old almost daily for about nine months, sometimes in his or her vehicle, other times in his parents’ home.

She claimed that he ultimately convinced her to send sexy pictures of herself, including nude selfies, which was later distributed to his school friends.

“I don’t know what was going through his brain,” Haglin stated. “He thought it would be cool… bragging rights… I don’t know.”

Teenage seducer: Haglin said the boy caught her at her ‘weakest moment,’ while she was having trouble with her boyfriend

The woman said that she didn’t think that he would share the intimate snapshots “because in my mind if you’re in a real relationship, you don’t just run around with your phone saying, ‘Hey, look, everybody, look how hot my girlfriend is.'”

The woman blamed the whole thing on the teenager, claiming that he caught her in her “weakest moment” when she was having issues with her boyfriend, which made her vulnerable to the teenager’s romantic pursuits.

The teen wrote her love letters and called her “my Empress” and “Mrs. Robinson.”

In one note, the teen wrote suggestively to his sub, who also worked as a waitress at the time: “I love the way you smell like pizza. It drives me crazy wanting a piece of the crust.”

She further claimed that the boy was aggressive in his pursuit, regularly trying to kiss her whenever they were alone, and even more than that, in class.

Haglin alleged that when she tried to end the relationship, he threatened to tell people about the affair.

The lewd relationship was exposed when one of the teacher’s female students recognized what she referred to on the Dr. Phil show as “suspicious” behavior between the duo.

She described how she would notice the 17-year-old go into Haglin’s classroom and close the door.

The girl eventually informed her mother of her suspicions. The woman confronted the teacher and asked her straight up about the rumors circulating the school.

“She said, ‘Yes, it’s true,’” the parent stated. “She kept telling me that she was in love with this young man, that as soon as he graduated, they were going to get married.”

The mother forced Mary Beth Haglin to write a statement admitting to the relationship, which she then sent to the administration.

Mary Beth Haglin had her teaching position terminated in May following an internal investigation and was taken into custody in July. If found guilty, she faces two years behind bars and will be forced to register as a sex offender for ten years.

An earlier investigation launched last February failed to establish any inappropriate behavior on Haglin’s part.

Both probes have since been labeled as “ineffective” by the school district and led to the resignations of three high-ranking administrators, The Gazette reported.

In an interview with Inside Edition in September, the 24-year-old apologized for the pain she has caused but maintained that it was her young partner who seduced her.

“He would come into my classroom, grab a Post-It, write something and stick it to my desk on his way out,” she stated.

By her own confession, Mary Beth Haglin claims that she was “completely head over heels” for him.

In hindsight, Haglin says it was “stupid” to believe that their forbidden relationship, which she called “a terrible mistake,” could be kept concealed.

In an interview with The Gazette after she was released on bail, the woman insisted that school administrators were cognizant of the affair and informed her to keep it “hush-hush.”

In the wake of this astonishing disclosure, three long-time school officials, including Principal Dr. Ralph Plagman, took an early retirement.

According to a string of emails obtained by The Gazette in response to a Freedom of Information Request, Plagman agreed to write a letter of recommendation for the woman in the midst of the second investigation into her reported affair.
