An inmate has found himself back behind bars after a brazen prison escape, and his daughter is facing accusations of helping him, arrest reports indicate.

On Tuesday afternoon, Dennis Claude Carver pulled off his prison escape from A minimum security detention center in Dallas. Before the end of the day, he was back behind bars.

Tonya Renee Carver is facing a felony charge of accessory for helping her father after he escaped. She has been released on $10,000 bond,The Gaston Gazette reported.

Arrest reports revealed that Carver called his daughter Tonya after he broke out of the prison. She reportedly picked him up and drove him to Kings Mountain.

The two were later apprehended by authorities, although law enforcement officials have not provided details of their arrest.

On Wednesday, Tonya Carver claimed she was unaware that her father had fled from prison when she saw him and maintained that she was under the impression he had obtained a home pass.

The 45-year-old father served seven months of his 20-month sentence for grand larceny and theft of over $1,000 when he escaped the Gaston Correctional Center at approximately 2:30 p.m. Carver, who was a maintenance worker, was believed to have been working outside of the prison’s border fence when he fled.

He was previously convicted of a hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death, felony breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering into vehicles, impaired driving, and obtaining property by false pretenses. Moreover, he was found guilty back for a 1995 child assault.

Dennis Carver has now been placed in “restrictive housing,” a spokesman for the N.C. Department of Public Safety indicated. He has officially been charged with felony escape.

Tonya Carver, 22, has also been arrested a couple of times over the past two years, with charges including to appear, obtaining property by pretense, and driving with a revoked license.
