Authorities in Mexico have captured a notorious Sinaloa Cartel hitman during an operation in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, officials announced on Monday.

The State Attorney General’s Office in Nuevo Leon identified 24-year-old Daniel Salas Salazar, “El Christian,” who is a reputed Sinaloa cartel hitman operating in the Independence colony located just south of Monterrey.

The Nuevo Leon State Investigation Agency (AEI) revealed the arrest of Salas Salazar, in connection with a double homicide committed in the Independence colony, Proceso reported.

State police arrested Salazar at a residence in Lake Patzcuaro, Nuevo Leon, and seized three AK-47s, an AR-15, and two handguns during the operation.

According to the state attorney general, Salazar and an accomplice executed 15-year-old Ivan Andres Gallegos Camarillo at his home near San Augustin on October 11th.

Police said Camarillo was shot four times. His uncle also suffered a gunshot wound. Investigators believe the killings was drug-related.

AEI officials said the body of the teen’s stepfather, identified as Javier Martinez, 34, was discovered in a shallow grave on May 11th and believe both murders are connected.

Authorities said “El Christian” is also the prime suspect in the Sept. 2015 murder of Gerardo Daniel Martinez, which also occurred in the Independence colony.
