Former Iowa teacher-turned-stripper Mary Beth Haglin, who was charged with having a sexual relationship with one of her 17-year-old students, is now facing a tougher charge after her startling confessions during an appearance on Dr. Phil.

The 24-year-old, Mary Beth Haglin, confessed to sleeping with the boy almost daily on the October 17th edition of the show.

As a result, prosecutors have increased her charges from misdemeanor sexual exploitation of a minor to felony sexual exploitation – which increases her maximum sentence from two to five years behind bars, The Daily Mail reported.

Documents filed by the Linn County Attorney’s Office cited her TV appearances – which also included interviews with Inside Edition and Crime Watch Daily – as the motive for the increased charges.

Haglin “admitted engaging in a pattern or practice of sexual conduct with a student while employed as a teacher at Washington High School, which supports the more serious felony offense,” the papers indicated.

As JammedUp News previously reported, the former teacher, who is now a stripper under the stage name “Bambi,” was taken into custody in July after their relationship was recognized by a classmate – and after the boy exposed her nude selfies to his friends.

The couple began hooking up while the woman was working at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids.

Their relationship, which lasted from January to May, began, she told Dr. Phil, after he seduced her with romantic messages written on Post-Its.

At the end of class, he would leave the notes on her desk calling her names such as “my Empress” and “Mrs Robinson.”

Ultimately,Mary Beth Haglin indicated that a dispute with her then-boyfriend led her into the teen’s arms – which transformed into a relationship that she claimed the 17-year-old assured her was real.

Haglin confessed to having sex with the 17-year-old almost daily for nine months, sometimes in one of their cars, other times in his parents’ home.

He eventually persuaded her to send him sexy pictures of herself, including naked selfies, which he later shared with his buddies at school.

Haglin claimed that she didn’t think he would show the intimate snapshots “because in my mind if you’re in a real relationship, you don’t just run around with your phone saying, “Hey, look, look, everybody, look how hot my girlfriend is.”

Their relationship came to fruition when a female student saw the teen sneaking into Haglin’s class during their breaks.

She expressed her concerns to her mother, and the woman confronted the teacher at the school.

“She said, ‘Yes, it’s true,'” the parent said. “She kept telling me that she was in love with this young man, that as soon as he graduated, they were going to get married.”

The parent forced Haglin to write a letter admitting to the inappropriate relationship, which she then sent to school administrators.

Haglin was terminated from her position in May at the end of an internal investigation and was subsequently arrested in July.

An earlier probe conducted in February had neglected to prove any wrongdoing on the teacher’s part.

Both investigations have since been labeled as “ineffective” by the district, with accusations surfacing that employees tried to cover-up the relationship.

According to a string of emails acquired by The Gazette, Washington High Principal Dr. Ralph Plagman even agreed to write Haglin a letter of recommendation during the second investigation.

That astonishing reveal led to the resignations of three prominent school officials, including Plagman, The Gazette reported.

Haglin’s trial date has been scheduled for November 14th. If she is found guilty, she faces a maximum sentence of five years behind bars and will be forced to register as a sex offender,
