A 24-year-old New Jersey man charged with the murder of seven people across two states, pleaded guilty to three Pennsylvania slayings on Thursday, confessing that “I just wanted to kill them.”

Todd West was hit with three consecutive life sentences and was fined $150,000. The judge also required him to pay the victims’ funeral costs. However, he evaded the death penalty by accepting the plea.

“This was a heinous crime and he’s an evil, evil man,” Steve Luska, Lehigh County First Assistant District Attorney, told the Morning Call. “But the families did not want to go through the emotional turmoil of a trial.”

West fatally shot 32-year-old Francine Ramos and 22-year-old Trevor Gray while they were driving in a car in Allentown in July 2015. He claimed he shot 22-year-old Kory Ketrow an hour prior because the victim looked “tired.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a case like this,” James Anthony, the Common Pleas Judge, said in court. “There doesn’t seem to be any motive here beyond the desire to kill. Just cold-blooded murder.”

West is just one of three suspects charged in the Pennsylvania deaths, with Kareem Mitchell and Robert Jourdain scheduled to face trial sometime in 2017, The New York Daily News reported

Mitchell drove around while Todd West chose his shooting victims, prosecutors allege, and Jourdain is accused of purchasing the bullets from WalMart shortly before West shot and killed Ketrow. Both men pleaded not guilty.

West is also accused of killing four people in New Jersey back in 2015, including his cousin. He is also charged with attempted murder in another incident.

“Look at what you did to all these families here. Look at you, grinning. You’re a coward. Your day will come soon,” said Ramos’ aunt, Sandra Dolson.

“He’s a coward. He shot people in the back,” Ketrow’s stepfather Richard Bader stated. “He killed helpless people for no reason.”

Bader also told the criminal that there was a reason why Ketrow looked tired — he had two jobs to support his family, according to the Morning Call.
