Local Mexican music channel host found murdered in southern state of Michoacan

Authorities say the gun-riddled body of Maritza Villar Mendoza, a well-known television music channel host, was discovered in the southern Mexican state of Michoacan on Monday.

The Attorney General of Michoacán said police confirmed the death of 20-year-old Villar Mendoza, the host of a music channel based in Morelia, who was found murdered and her body showed signs of torture.

According to local media reports, the body of Maritza Villar Mendoza was discovered blindfolded, her hands bound and shot in the head point-blank several times, and dumped on the side of a roadway in the city of Apatzingan.

The state AG’s office overseeing the investigation said the killing was likely linked to a settling of scores between criminal gangs fighting in the territory, but refused to provide further details, El Debate reported.

Villar Mendoza hosted a show on a local cable music channel titled “Another Level,” which was dedicated to the grupero genre.It would be the second execution of a high-profile personality in Mexico in less than a week.

As JammedUp News reported, gunmen murdered E! Entertainment host and a songwriter/actor Renato Lopez and his assistant on Friday in Mexico City.

Police discovered the bodies of Renato Lopez and his publicist Oscar Giron inside a vehicle in the town of Jilotzingo after both men were reported missing last week.

The former host of E!’s show “Zona Trendy,” was promoting his recent film “Macho” when he was reported missing. Police said an investigation remains ongoing but have yet to make any arrests in Lopez’s murder.
