Police have disclosed horrifying new details about the trauma and kidnapping of California mom Sherri Papini, who was discovered alive on Thanksgiving after she was reported missing for approximately three weeks.

Among her wounds, Papini, the 34-year-old mom of two, was branded with a message on her skin, Tom Bosenko, the Shasta County Sheriff, told ABC News.

“I would think that that was some either an exertion of power and control and/or maybe some message that the brand contained,” he stated on ABC News’ “Good Morning America.” “It is not a symbol, but it was a message.”

Keith Papini, Sherri’s husband, told “Good Morning America” in an exclusive interview that his wife suffered from both mental and physical abuse while she was held captive for three weeks.

“Her now emaciated body of 87 pounds is covered in multicolored bruises, severe burns, red rashes and chain markings,” he stated.

Keith Papini also added that the bridge of his wife’s nose was broken and that her abductors cut her hair off.

“Obviously, a very sick person who may have wanted to not only to cut it off to change her physical appearance but also as to humiliate her, wear her down,” Bosenko noted.

Law enforcement officials are now pursuing the alleged abductors, who Sherri Papini stated had dropped her off 150 miles from her home on Thanksgiving. She managed to flag down assistance, even though she was tied and restrained.

She described her captors as two Hispanic females, who were armed with a handgun and were driving an SUV.

Detectives questioned Papini for the third time on Tuesday, and police are hoping to collect additional details about the suspects.
