Teen charged with decapitation murder of classmate in Massachusetts

Authorities have charged 16-year-old has with the decapitation murder of his 16-year-old classmate after discovering the victim’s headless body near the Merrimack River in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Police arrested Mathew Borges on Saturday for the killing of 16-year-old Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino, Jonathan Blodgett, the Essex District Attorney said in an announcement.

A woman walking her dog by the riverbank came across Viloria-Paulino’s decapitated body on Thursday. His head was recovered by police nearby, CBS Boston reported.

The victim has been missing since Nov. 18th, when he was last witnessed leaving his grandmother’s home in Lawrence.

Blodgett says Borges, who attended Lawrence High School with the victim, will be charged as an adult when he is arraigned on Monday for first-degree murder.

Massachusetts authorities have yet to indicate a motive for the decapitation murder.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Borges has retained an attorney.
