The wife of ruthless Mexican drug lord Reuben Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as ‘El Mencho’ has filed a petition in a federal court in the city of Zapopan, protecting her from possible arrest.

Rosalinda Gonzalez-Valencia is the wife of ‘El Mencho,’ the leader of the ultra-violent Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), and sister of Abagail Valencia ‘Los Cuinis,’ who is identified as the world’s richest drug trafficker by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

According to Proceso, Gonzalez-Valencia filed an official appeal in the Second District Court of Amparo in Criminal Matters in the state of Jalisco earlier this week.

Attorneys for Rosalinda Gonzalez, who like her husband is originally from the western Mexican state of Michoacan, filed an Amparo, which is an appeal for protection against any possible arrest warrant, detention, summons, presentation, appearance house arrest, or execution, before the federal district judges for criminal proceedings .

The complainant was granted the provisional suspension in exchange for providing a financial guarantee in the amount of 24 thousand pesos, and the appeal shall take effect only if any accusations currently existing are not for serious crimes.

His upstart Jalisco New Generation cartel has facilitated acts of violence against rival criminal organizations and members of law enforcement to become one of the most powerful and feared drug trafficking organizations in Mexico.

The CJNG were responsible for a pair of deadly attacks on federal forces that killed 20 police officers and were responsible for the shootdown of a military helicopter, which killed nine soldiers on board back in May 2015.

Authorities have also linked the cartel to the systematic killings of several local and state police officers in Jalisco earlier this year.

The threat posed by the CJNG has prompted the Mexican government to make the capture of ‘El Mencho’ it’s top security objective and he also remains at the top of the DEA’s most-wanted list, who has offered a $5 million dollar reward for information leading to his arrest.
