Pablo Escobar’s most beloved hitman John Jairo Velasquez also known as “Popeye” was mugged by two armed men in Colombia, according to multiple reports.

The Daily Mail reported, the cold-blooded killer with over 300 notches under his belt was driven off the road by two motorcyclists as he was traveling in an upscale shopping area in Medellin, where Escobar dominated in the 1980s as the world’s most infamous and feared drug kingpin.

The burglars robbed Velasquez’s jewelry, money, sunglasses, and cell phone before fleeing,

“I’ve learned my lesson. I’ll leave my valuables at home. The jewelry cost me a fortune,” the 54-year-old said on Tuesday.

“The blokes who did it didn’t say anything to me. Each one of them stuck a gun to my window. There was nothing I could do,” John Jairo Velasquez,  added, who has admitted to murdering 300 victims and has previously served 22 years behind bars.

Pablo Escobar was killed back in 1993 by Colombian authorities. However, his son had recently opposed the official police version, saying that Escobar committed suicide before police had the chance to shoot him.
