A suspected smuggler, featured on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) “Se Busca Informacion” billboards, was nabbed by authorities on Monday in South Texas, according to officials.

CBP officials said in a Wednesday news release that border agents stationed at the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested Juan Fidel Velasquez-Alvarado after someone recognized him from the #6 spot on the “Se Busca Informacion” billboard and alerted the San Juan Police Department.

The release added that the tip provided by the concerned citizen resulted in the arrest Alvarado without incident, The Monitor reported.

Customs officials launched the “Se Busca Informacion” initiative, as an effort to seek assistance from the public to track down and capture known smugglers around the Rio Grande Valley,

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector placed billboards at the three checkpoints, along with flyers, showing ten of the most wanted suspected smugglers and a phone number to report any information.

The billboards list the top targets from one through ten and urge the public to include the reference number when reporting a suspect.

Anyone with information can notify the CBP at (800) 863-9382 or online at www.cbp.gov.
