Police in North Carolina arrested a high school teacher on Tuesday on allegations that she engaged in sexual intercourse with a male student on numerous occasions both on and off campus, officials said.

Davie County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, J.D. Hartman, announced the charges against 27-year-old Jessica Welch Greene, of Mocksville, who faces three counts of sexual activity with a student.

The Sheriff’s Office indicated that Davie County School officials alerted authorities on Dec. 2nd of a possible inappropriate relationship between Greene and a student.

Officials with the Davie County School System first uncovered the alleged student-teacher relationship on Dec. 1st and subsequently suspended Greene the following day, prompting a joint investigation by the school district and sheriff’s office.

Hartman said the investigation revealed evidence that the high school teacher and male student – whose identity has been withheld, engaged in sexual intercourse on and off campus between Nov. 1st and the first week of December.

School officials said in a statement following the arrest that they had notified parents of the high school students regarding the incident through the school’s messenger.

“The safety of all of our students remains a top priority, and we intend to continue to partner with parents, our community, and law enforcement to maintain a safe teaching and learning environment for the students we serve,” school officials said in a statement.

Officers booked Greene into the custody of the Davie County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
