The Brooklyn District Attorney will no longer pursue rape charges against Moroccan pop star Saad Lamjarred after a woman at the center of the 2010 allegations stopped cooperating,

The DA’s Office announced on Tuesday that charges against Saad Lamjarred were dismissed on Dec. 23, because “the woman refused not cooperate.”

Lamjarred fled the U.S. in 2010 after a Brooklyn grand jury returned an indictment on several counts including sexual assault, harassment, and sexual abuse, DNA Info reported.

Prosecutors had considered extraditing the Morrocan pop star from his native country.

“The complainant, in this case, made it clear that she no longer wishes to pursue a criminal prosecution against the defendant,” he said.

“Without her, we cannot prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt without her testimony, under the circumstances, we cannot ethically, in good faith, seek an international extradition requiring tremendous legal, financial, and diplomatic resources.” the DA’s Office said.

French authorities arrested Lamjarred in late October on similar charges after a 20-year-old woman accused him of a violent sexual assault in his Paris hotel room.

The attorney for the victim in New York did not return calls for comment on Tuesday evening.
