Authorities in Harris County, Texas are in the midst of a manhunt for a heavily armed drug robbery crew responsible for pistol-whipping a homeowner before opening fire on sheriff’s deputies.

Harris County Sheriff’s officials say deputies responded to a call of a violent home invasion in the 1000 block of Rosbrook Drive near West Road and Ella Boulevard on Monday night.

The caller told 911 dispatch that a group of 5-10 armed men assaulted her father.

KHOU reported the armed rip-off crew stormed the home in search of drugs and money.

Police said the victim’s teenage daughter and two of his other kids, ages 5 and 6, managed to flee the home to a neighbor’s house, where they called authorities.

The drug robbery crew fired at least 30 rounds at arriving deputies, prompting law enforcement officials to dispatch a heavily armed tactical team to the scene, Fox26 reported.

After establishing a perimeter around the residence, officers sent in a robot and K-9 unit to reveal the location of the suspects, who managed to escape through the back door in a white SUV.

Police said the suspects made off with $50,000 in cash and an undisclosed amount of illegal narcotics. However, authorities still managed to recover a large stash of drugs from the home.

The victim remains hospitalized for his injuries, while no officers were harmed in the gunfire.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
