A Chicago gang leader, who is also a registered sexual offender was taken into custody this week by U.S. Marshals.

Quincey Ray, 36, was wanted in Lake County, Illinois for failing to report a change of address and neglecting to register as a sex offender, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office indicated.

Officials believed Ray had left the state, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on January 9th, The Chicago Tribune reported.

Lake County law enforcement worked with the U.S. Marshals Service Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team to track down and arrest Ray.

Police apprehended Ray in the parking lot of a mall in Hamilton County, Ohio on Wednesday evening. Officials said Marshals recovered a firearm during the arrest.

The Marshals Service also indicated that Ray is allegedly a high-ranking leader of the Black P Stones street gang in Chicago.

Ray remains in custody at the Hamilton County Justice Center awaiting his extradition to Illinois.

“Non-compliant sexual predators who flee are a concern and risk to the community,” Ray Rose, the Lake County Undersheriff, said. “I am pleased with the fast apprehension of this sexual predator, thanks to the collective efforts of the sheriff’s office and U.S. Marshals Service.”
