Ohio Police officers responding to a call of a disturbance discovered two adults and two children stabbed inside of a home in a suburb of Dayton early Thursday.

Kettering Police Department officials said paramedics had taken all four of the wounded including one man considered to be a suspect, to local area hospitals and initial reports indicate the wounds weren’t life-threatening, local12 News reported.

Police spokesman John Jung said one 72-year-old adult and two children ages 8 and 11 suffered injuries consistent with a knife.

Jung later revealed the suspect, identified as a 46-year-old male who also suffered knife wounds, is being held in custody on multiple counts of felony assault.

Officers arrived at the home around 4 a.m. after receiving a 911 call.

“My son cut both of the kids,” a man is heard on the 911 recording released on Thursday. He said the man responsible for the stabbing had gone into the basement.

“Please hurry,” the man said. The dispatcher had the caller remain on the line until police arrived at the Dayton residence.

Jung said police investigators are working to determine a motive for the stabbings and it remains unclear how many people were in the home at the time of the incident.

“Inside the residence, it’s an extensive crime scene,” Jung said. “It’s more than one room.”
