A documented gang member was taken into custody in Wilmington, North Carolina on Monday for cocaine trafficking and other drug-related charges.

According to court records, authorities charged Lewis Alexander Hines, 25, with cocaine trafficking; producing cocaine; maintaining a car or dwelling for a controlled substance; and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine. He has also been charged with selling/delivering/possession of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a park and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Cathryn Lindsay, a spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department, said Hines, a documented gang member was arrested after a month-long probe.

On Monday, detectives executed a search warrant on Hines’ residence and seized close to 36 grams of crack cocaine, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia, the Wilmington Star-News reported.

Lindsay said police officers managed to take the man into custody without incident after he was pulled over. His bail has been set at $1 million.

Hines, a felon, was formerly convicted in 2009 of discharging a gun from within an enclosure and for possessing a schedule II substance. He was arrested in April 2009 after an incident in which he allegedly fired several shots from a car and struck one occupied vehicle, but did not hit any people or houses.
