North Carolina authorities have charged a California gang member with meth and heroin trafficking, along with possession of a firearm with a modified serial number.

Lincolnton Police Department officers said narcotics investigators pulled over a vehicle on Wednesday in which Ryan Joseph Gutierrez, 25, an alleged California gang member was a passenger. During an inspection of the car, officers found meth and heroin.

Police then obtained a search warrant for a residence and discovered meth, heroin, a gun with an altered serial number, money, and paraphernalia used to package drugs, the Lincoln Times-News reported.

Investigators said the 40 grams of meth confiscated during the bust were worth roughly $4,000 and that the 25 grams of heroin were worth close to $6,250.

Officers said the evidence pictured above was seized during the arrest of Ryan Joseph Gutierrez.

Authorities revealed that Gutierrez is wanted for a felony probation violation in California and is part of the Moorpark Locos, a southern California-based street gang linked to the Mexican Mafia. Gutierrez recently moved to North Carolina.

Gutierrez was charged with possession with the intent to deal meth, possession with the intent to sell heroin, trafficking meth and heroin, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a gun with an altered serial number. Gutierrez’s bond was set at $215,000.

Officers said Gutierrez has prior California felony convictions for fraud, theft from an elderly adult, possession of a controlled substance, threatening a crime with the intent to terrorize, transporting/selling a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of banned ammunition, possession of a banned short-barreled rifle, conspiracy involving a criminal street gang, and causing a riot within a detention facility, among others.

The investigation occurred as a result of a citizen complaint.
