Florida felon sentenced to 15 years for trafficking MDMA, heroin

A Pensacola, Florida man will serve at least 15 years of a 17.5-year sentence behind bars for trafficking MDMA and heroin amons other drugs.

Kalenski Brooks was sentenced on February 14th after he pleaded guilty in January to trafficking MDMA, heroin, and hydrocodone along with possession with intent to sell marijuana, cocaine, and alprazolam. He also was charged with possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, failure to appear, and two probation violations.

Brooks was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for a traffic infraction in June 2015. A police dog signaled to officers, and a search revealed 19 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, over $13,000 in cash in the console, and a gun in the passenger floorboard.

According to the Pensacola News Journal, Brooks posted bond but failed to appear in court in September 2015, a release from the State Attorney’s office revealed.

He was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison with a 15-year minimum mandatory sentence.
