Chicago hit a somber milestone overnight, exceeding the 100th homicide so far in 2017.

Samuel Head, 38, and a 20-year-old man – whose name has not yet been revealed – were both fatally shot at a house party at 65th and Drexel around 1 a.m. on Saturday. Authorities reported that two men in hoodies opened fire into a crowd and fled.

One victim sustained a gunshot to the chest, while the other was shot in the torso and face. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Head’s girlfriend was brought to the hospital in stable condition with a grazed injury to her thigh, WGNTV reported

Officials said that both men were gang members. No arrests have been made as of yet.

Three additional people were also shot in the city around 8 a.m. on Saturday. A 20-year-old, a 39-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were brought to the hospital in stable condition. Police say people in two cars were shooting at each other. There are pending charges against one suspect.

The Chicago Police Department reported that Chicago had seen 90 homicides so far in 2017, compared with 96 during the same time in 2016. Some deaths that the Cook County Medical Examiner determine are homicides are not included in those figures, including those killed in police-involved shootings and freeway shootings, which are investigated by the State Police.

Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said that high-tech strategic support centers recently implemented in some districts are showing some positive results, but there is a lot more work to be done.
