‘You better be worth risking going to jail’: An 18-year-old La. man is arrested for inappropriate text messages with minor, 14

OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) —Louisiana authorities have arrested an 18-year-old man for what investigators say were inappropriate text messages to a 14-year-old girl — including, “You better be worth risking going to jail” officials said in a statement.

Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux, a spokesman for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s  Office says George Thomas Wiley III of Krotz Springs secured his release from jail on a $13,500 bond after his arrest Thursday on charges including computer-aided solicitation of a minor.

in a news release, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says that a parent notified detectives after looking through the girl’s text messages on her phone.

The 18-year-old from Krotz Springs, Louisiana was later released on a $13,500 bond

Guidroz said Cyber crimes investigators uncovered the messages during a subsequent search of Wiley’s phone, the Daily Mail reported.

According to the Sheriff,  the jail comment came following a question regarding the girl’s age.

Wiley acknowledged he had sent the inappropriate text messages to the girl and admitted to receiving a picture of her breasts through Snapchat, Guidroz stated,

A call made by the Associated Press to the only George Wiley listed in the area was not immediately returned.
