Dramatic surveillance footage displays the moment a kidnapped woman, jumped out of the trunk of a moving vehicle in Alabama and ran to freedom.

A man kidnapped a 25-year-old woman outside of her apartment at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The abductor pointed a firearm at the woman and demanded cash.

When the victim claimed that she didn’t have any money, the suspect reportedly forced her into a black Nissan before forcing her to get into the trunk and took her phone and wallet.

Birmingham Police Sergeant Bryan Shelton told NBC that the suspect went “to multiple unknown locations” with the victim in the trunk, using her card at ATMs to take out money.

The suspect went to a Gas Land station before 12 am Tuesday and asked employee Yosef Alsabah for assistance with using the ATM.

Alsabah then realized that the suspect was trying to take out more cash than was in the account.

“He was not right … there was something going on,” he told Alabama.com. “He looked like he had a pistol in his pocket — I kept an eye on him.”

Alsabah told the man to come back later, but as he started to drive away, the trunk opened, and a woman jumped out and ran into the store for help.

“I got her inside and locked the door, then called the police,” Alsabah said.

The kidnapped woman grabbed Alsabah’s gun — but he advised her to be careful and assured her that the man would not come back.

She then used Alsabah’s phone to call her relatives, and police soon arrived. A family member brought the woman to a local hospital to be treated for a few minor cuts.

On Wednesday, Birmingham police tweeted a picture of the kidnapping suspect.
