A suspect in a fatal shooting Saturday morning on the Las Vegas strip surrendered peacefully after a 4-hour standoff with SWAT teams.

According to Metro Police officials reported one person was reportedly killed and another injured in the shooting.

Nevada authorities said the shooting is not believed to be tied to terrorism.

The tourist-packed Las Vegas strip was shut down as SWAT teams were deployed to the area after the initial call came in around 10:48 a.m.

A Las Vegas Metro police spokesman said the armed shooting suspect was riding on a Regional Transportation Commission bus and it was being treated as a barricade situation.

Officials said no other victims were discovered on the bus.

An employee at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas Hotel and Casino told Fox5 Vegas that police had evacuated the building and placed the hotel floors on lockdown.

He further described the scene inside the packed casino as chaotic with people scurrying everywhere in a panic.

The standoff forced police to shut down large sections of the Las Vegas strip Saturday morning

“People were jammed into back rooms and were laying on the floor,” the employee said.

Emergency response crews and police units blocked off Las Vegas Boulevard from Flamingo Road to Harmon Avenue.

Metro Police officials have yet to release further information on the shooting including the name of the suspect or the deceased victim.

It was the second reported shooting on the Las Vegas strip in less than 24-hours. Hours earlier, an armed suspect in a pig mask opened fire inside the Bellagio Hotel during an armed robbery.

Authorities said the armed robbery took place inside the Rolex store in the Bellagio.

The gunfire prompted chaos to erupt inside the hotel as tourists sought shelter. Police have taken one person into custody.

Officials said the two incidents are unrelated.
