Addressing the press, a visibly upset Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said two the two officers, both members of the Homicide-Gang Unit Taskforce were working a gang detail when a group of six men walked up to their patrol car and opened fire around 10 p.m. Monday night.

Perez stated that the two wounded officers were rushed the to a local hospital by their fellow colleagues in a pickup truck.

The extent of the officers’ injuries wasn’t immediately released. The Police Director added that cops, who are listed in stable condition and are expected to survive, “had the scare of their lives.”

However, the Police Director added that cops are listed in stable condition and are expected to survive.

The suspects remained at-large as of Tuesday and Perez urged the public to contact authorities if anyone had information about the shooting

“Let’s work together to find a resolution,” Perez said. “Point us in the right direction.”
