Mother watches as two sons are fatally shot outside restaurant on Chicago’s south side

A mother watched in horror as a man approached a restaurant one Chicago’s south side where she works and began shooting, killing her two sons and two other men in what authorities suspect is gang-related retaliation.

Police say a lone shooter opened fire just before 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Nadia Fish and Chicken restaurant in the South Shore area, slaying Dillon and Raheem Jackson, who were discovered outside of the business when police and EMTs arrived, NBC Chicago reported.

“I can’t go on; my life is over. I’m about to kill myself,” the devastated mom told the Chicago Tribune as she sobbed, still wearing a red apron from work as her sons’ bodies lay nearby. “I was standing right here in the window; they killed them right in front of me.”

Two other victims were found dead inside of the restaurant.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The shooting was alleged to be gang-related retaliation “from another incident,” an NBC affiliate reported, quoting police spokesperson Anthony Guglelimi.

The men were among the nine individuals shot on Chicago’s south side on Thursday, which included a pregnant woman who was discovered dead that afternoon in her apartment about a mile away from the restaurant.

That incident did not appear to be related to the restaurant shooting.

Homicides have decreased by rought 10% so far in 2017 in the third-largest U.S. city after 2016 was one of the deadlist years in decades.
