A New Jersey Catholic high school teacher is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a student from the same school she graduated from.

Theresa Hrindo, 25, was a part-time graphic design teacher at Roselle Catholic High School in New Jersey.

She was taken into custody on Thursday and is facing charges of sexual assault and endangering child welfare, NJ.com reported.

Investigators believe the teacher had sex multiple times with the underage student between December 2016 and February 2017.

Hrindo (pictured during her arraignment Friday) was arrested on Thursday afternoon and now faces charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child

The woman has also been charged with hindering apprehension after she allegedly deleted compromising documents and pictures from the student’s cell phone.

The Catholic high school teacher graduated from Roselle in 2010, went and earned a degree in graphic design from Kean University in 2014.

On Friday, a judge agreed to release her on the conditions that she wouldn’t have any contact with the victim and that she wouldn’t teach or supervise children.

Her position at the school was her first job, and she doesn’t wish to go back to teaching, her attorney, who also indicated that Hrindo didn’t have a certification in teaching, stated.

Authorities believe the teacher (pictured in court on Friday) had sex several times with the student between December 2016 and February this year

“This whole process for my client, her family and everyone involved is traumatic,” the woman’s attorney, Michael G Brucki, said in court.

The Archdiocese of Newark, who manages the school, got in touch with police about the case, leading to an investigation that spanned three weeks and concluded with the teacher’s arrest.

The teacher, who is facing up to 10 years in prison if found guilty, is scheduled to appear in court on May 3rd.
