Two purported members of the Gangster Disciples in Georgia were found guilty on Thursday for their role in a two-day deadly crime binge.

According to Georgia’s DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office, a jury convicted 22-year-old Joseph Broxton and 24-year-old Daniel Pena on multiple charges, which include felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, along with violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, WXIA reported.

Prosecutors argued that the two were associated with the “Hate Committee,” a local faction of the Gangster Disciples. Authorities reported that Pena and Broxton followed demands by gang leaders to seek out “violators” and commit other offenses in the Central Drive area of Stone Mountain.

“Violators” were individuals who allegedly didn’t abide by gang rules or pretended to be members of the Gangster Disciples.

The crimes reportedly occurred over two days in July of 2015.

Below is a timeline of the reported crimes outlined by prosecutors:

The crime spree started on July 3, 2015, when Broxton and Pena tried to rob Edward Chadmon at the Stone Mountain Inn. The victim was shot and killed.

In the early hours of July 30, 2015, Broxton, Pena and other associates of the Hate Committee were traveling the Central Drive area looking for people to kill. They stopped at the Hairston Square apartment complex and forced a male victim to approach their car. As he walked toward them, the victim was shot five times by Broxton but survived his injuries.

Rougly four hours later, Broxton and Pena attacked a third victim, Oliver Campbell, who was sleeping in his vehicle at a gas station. Campbell, whom the pair tried to rob, was woken up from his sleep and was struck twice—once in his neck and in his leg. He was declared dead at the scene.

Later that night as the defendants were cruising near the Wynview apartments, they noticed someone they believed to be a rival gang associate. The two parked their stolen car and opened fire on the man, who returned shots. An innocent bystander was shot in the leg during the incident.

In the last violent offense of the day, Defendants, Pena and other Hate Committee members shot two victims sitting on the patio of an apartment. Rocqwell Nelson was shot six times and was killed in the incident. A female companion sitting next to him shooting was hit eleven times and survived.

The district attorney’s office reported that two other Hate Committee members have pleaded guilty in connection with the offenses.

Broxton and Pena are facing multiple life without parole prison sentences.
