Top rated high school coach in the nation accused of domestic battery

A coach for the top high school football program in the U.S. has been suspended from the Las Vegas team after an arrest and accusations of domestic battery.

On Friday, Bishop Gorman High School revealed that Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Sanchez had been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation, Fox5 Las Vegas reported.

Sanchez was taken into custody on Tuesday and is accused of domestic violence against his girlfriend, Brooke Jade Stewart, on Christmas Day last year.

The criminal complaint alleges that Stewart told authorities that Sanchez was at her house when he came up to her from behind and punched her.

Her complaint stated: “He came behind me and pulled my hair, and punched me in the eye. As I was going down, he punched me in the side of my face and put his hands around my neck. He held me on the ground and then ran to his car.”

She also outlined an earlier altercation that reportedly occurred on December 17th, in which she said that the high school coach: “was angry and punched her in the eye.”

Sanchez has not publicly commented on the case, but his lawyer has said the accusations are false.

The school has indicated that the incident is being taken seriously but would not comment on personal matters.

“You may have seen the stories regarding domestic battery allegations made against Coach Kenny Sanchez,” school president John A. Kilduff stated. “We take allegations involving our faculty and staff very seriously. While we cannot comment on personal matters, as is our practice, Coach Sanchez has been suspended pending the outcome of the review.”

A bench trial is scheduled for May 30th.
