In addition to working for Colectivo Pericu, Rodriguez had been the spokesperson for the attorney general’s office and the state court.

Mexican journalist Miroslava Breach was executed earlier this week by purported cartel gunmen

“We come together in sorrow that has undertaken those who knew and worked with you,” Colectivo Pericu said in their story.

Rodriguez’s killed occurred only days after cartel shooters with the La Linea, the armed wing of the Juarez Cartel assassinated long time journalist Miroslava Breach.

Breach had revealed how the mother in law of drug lord Carlos Arturo “El 80” Quintana had been trying to run for mayor of the municipality in Chihuahua.

Only days before Breach’s slaying, unknown gunmen fatally shot Ricardo Monlui Cabrera, the director for El Politico in Yanga, Veracruz.

On March 2nd, Cecilio Pineda Brito, the director for La Voz de Tierra Caliente in Guerrero, was shot and killed by two men on a motorcycle. All of the reporters had been receiving threats before their murders.
