An infant and three teens were shot, and hundreds of horrified revelers ran to safety when a man began shooting at an Easter carnival.

The four victims are hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the attack on Saturday night, ABC News reported.

Authorities said that shots were fired in the midst of a dispute outside the Cathedral of the Cross Church in Birmingham, Alabama at 9:30 pm.

It is not apparent how many gunmen were present, but five men have been taken into custody so far.

Roughly 800 attendees were at the church’s annual Spring Carnival Extravaganza at the time of the incident, and terrified survivors said that people were knocking down fences to run away.

“You jumped the fence, or you got shot. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ that we’re still here,” attendee Felicia Stubbs said in an interview with AL.com.

The local fire chief referred to the scene as “mass chaos” but stated that the situation could have ended tragically if it wasn’t for several local deputies who were working off-duty jobs that promptly jumped into action to capture the suspects.
